Facebook is the most popular social networking site in the world. With more than 600 million members worldwide, it is no wonder that Facebook apps are among the most popular on the internet. This was not always the case. In fact, the first generation of applications for the site was an unmitigated disaster.
Members complained that they were difficult to use, the graphics were poor and that the options were limited. Facebook took all this criticism to heart and after a year or two of retooling they released a new group of Facebook apps.
Like the previous generation, these new apps grant members access to their accounts and let them use basic features. Unlike the old apps, however, they have improved graphics and they are much easier to use. Most of these new applications also happen to be free.
As you might expect, the most popular new Facebook apps are the most usefuls one. The Facebook toolbar can be used to check your pictures and friends and to chat online with other members. There is also a photo uploader that gives members the ability to post new pictures on the go.
Another great application is Facebook mobile, which lets users post comments and even blogs to their member pages. As we mentioned, since Facebook is known as a free service, many of these new applications can be downloaded for nothing. From what we have seen only the music apps will ask for a pound or two.
